Original artwork description:

The petals of a rose uncurl to set free the colours, forms and energy within. This large-scale oil painting is one of my 'Poetic Floral' series, and depicts a rose in bloom. I painted at a large scale to craft an intensity of experience for the viewer - the intoxicating joy that flowers can bring when we are lost in their colour and scent. With this piece I loved how the petals seem to reach out to the viewer as they bloom, almost escaping to freedom through the plane of the painting.

The title is taken from words written by William Wordsworth that inspired me as I painted - "How does the Meadow flower its bloom unfold? Because the lovely little flower is free down to its root, and in that freedom bold."
