What happens inside us when we meet someone for the very first time? What kind of chemical reactions are taking place in our bodies, what kind of neuro-connectivity affects our psyche at that moment? The precise moment, when we're just introduced… or when we accidentally bumped into each other… or when we’re merely rushing through a mob of blurry, faceless people trying to get somewhere and suddenly one single face in that fast-moving crowd catches our attention… and we can’t explain why… The moment, when no words yet spoken, no actions yet taken... when it's just a very first glance, but that’s the glance which may ignite a relationship and put in motion possibly long chain of events… This artwork is about all that and possibly something else as well... like a difference between genders when it comes to that first moment: what do we see in each other?
Hence, the reason for painting a diptych: HER and HIS sides of the story - two (24"x30") canvases, which are designed to be side-by-side. In this case it will represent specifics of a woman’s and a man’s psychological reaction to a first meeting. Is it a love from the first sight? Perhaps. The paintings can also be displayed independently of one another. In this case, each will still retain qualities of a atmospheric figurative art.
The digital camera does not give these paintings justice. The paintings have such a rich, beautiful Renaissance-like colors and (sponging) texture and contrasting graphically-delicate faces! It is best realized when you look at this work with your very own eyes.
The artwork is signed and dated on a back and comes with Certificate of Authenticity. Finished with several coats of clear varnish to protect investment for years of display. Ready to be hanged with or without a frame. Sides of canvas painted so framing is not necessary.
