'The Faun' is a sculpture based on the mythical creature, The Faun. A Faun was a mythical being crossed between a human and a goat, often the lower half being goat and the upper half being human. Although Faun's were represented as being half goat, I wanted to create this sculpture with deer antlers instead to create a more dramatic appearance to this sculpture.
I specifically chose blue and black for this sculpture as a nod to Piet Mondrian's graphical painting's in the 1920's. Plus keeping the bottom half clear to honour the material used (resin) and it's properties.
The deer antlers for this sculpture are made from resin and are not real so no animals were harmed in this creation.
