Artist's description:

Taking my minimalistic approach in another direction, more abstract. I envisage a city where the people are depicted by empty bottles and unfinished drinks....
While doing this painting, I thought about how the abstract expressionist movement began back in the 1940s and '50s and how it had been influenced by the Great Depression in the US. This somehow led me to feel the emptiness and despair on a personal level and a lot of this has gone into "The day after yesterday".

Acrylic on canvas. Painted pale blue all around the deep edged borders, the painting can be hung immediately.
