Artist's description:

Here is another from my "ABANDONED" series. This shot was taken inside an abandoned home that was built in 1845. It made the perfect backdrop for my series. This time the TV merely reflects the past.

The scene is a mirror if you will, that either reflects what we see or how we see it and the choices we make as a result.

You will note the recurring theme of a TV, Doll (with one eye), and Metal Toy Car, all objects from a childhood and a simpler time. Amongst the ramshackle surroundings is the theme of abandonment and loss. Is it the pain from a lost childhood, from being abandoned ? All the while holding onto fragments of memories that brought about joy. The idea of "Heaven" and "Hell" are the choices we are faced with, very often determined by how our own childhood was shaped bringing about the realization that there is hope as we move further away from the pain of abandonment, the disfunction, or that there is no hope and we continue in a downward spiral.

Note the doorknob that is upside down. Something just isn't right. The candle holder fallen from the wall were it once hung and the light that no longer shines from it and hope is lost. However, hidden in the debris is a key that unlocks the door, but which door?
