Artwork description:

The Burren is a famous area of limestone scenery in County Clare, Ireland. This painting was made near Lisdoonvarna where the annual matchmaking festival is held when people flock from miles around hoping to find a partner.

These rocks are very interesting to paint and to see the myriad of small plants which seem to survive in the crevices between them. The area is on the popular route around the West and part of the South of Ireland, ‘The Wild Atlantic Way'. I used a pinkish paint for the rocks, one often used for skin tones in portraiture – it seemed to work.

The painting made from quality oil paints is framed in a lovely hand made frame, would hang well anywhere, is on a prepared panel and measures 12” X 19.5”.
