This painting is proposed for the Artfinder/Liquitex "Muted Collection.” (Part of the "Strata" collection)
For this project, I wanted to focus my paintings on the word “Strata”.
Strata (a plural of stratum) are the layers of material, naturally or artificially formed, often one of a number of parallel layers one upon another.
My marbled paintings are normally inspired by nature, especially minerals and gemstones, although sometimes they have the appearance of strange yet-to-be-discovered faraway planets.
The colours I've used for these paintings evoke the Vinicunca mountains in Peru. The natural creation of those layers over time, and the mesmerising effect that they create, inspired me during this project.
To paint these paintings I used the Liquitex Muted Collection, in the range Soft Body. I found that these colours were perfect to achieve the desired result.
