Artist's description:

Each year there is an explosion of Dandelion's (a common weed), if you see one in your garden, before long you'll see hundreds!

Their method of spreading seed is simple but effective, each flower head turns to speeds, each seed is attached to a very light feathery structure, one wisp of wind and the whole seed head gets blown away, to float on the breeze until the seed reaches the ground, to there by start the next batch of life.

Seeing this particular Dandelion on the roadside verge by my house had me imagining the Universe at it's very beginning, exploding into life through the 'Big Bang', and the material that is cast out into the darkness coalesces into the Universe as we know it; and thus, my vision for this image was born.

Received an Honourable Mention at the International Photography Awards 2014, and also published in a special edition magazine from Camerapixo - B&W Fine Art (en)Visionography.
