Artist's description:

Technicolour is the process of superimposing monochrome layers in order to produce different colours. Nowadays, it's commonly understood to mean something that contains lots of colours. In this piece, the background colours are a combination of the block colours blended together (with the addition of white). I then used a palette knife to carve the blocks out of the wet paint. Once dry, I went over the 'blocks' with the solid colours used to make the background. There is no particular order to the colours, I wanted to keep a random distribution. That being said, I predominantly used the darker colours nearer the edges to help draw focus to the centre.
