I saw "Tall Eric" lighthouse whilst on holiday in Olland, Sweden, (a lovely rural island) facing out to sea. You were able to view Tall Eric from a bird reserve over salt marshes. He was built in 1845, to 32 meters, and you are able to climb up inside to the top for some amazing views. When we were there, a huge storm was blowing in with lightning and thunder, so we didn't hang around for too long, but he was definitely worth a visit.
He stayed in my mind during the holiday, and I was determined to paint him when I got home. I tried to capture the light reflecting off the smooth walls of the light house as that interested me plus create clouds showing a brisk windy day.
Acrylic paint on box canvas with painted edges.
