Artist's description:

Tafoni Pockets are a common sight along the California Coast, but on Pebble Beach they are filled with incredible colorful, jelly bean-sized stones. These polished pebbles are the "Jewels of the Ocean". The pockets themselves are formed in a unique geological formation found along the Pacific Coast where rocks, salt water and weathering react with each other, eating holes in the rocks, and creating “pockets” where small pebbles become trapped. Through the centuries the action of the waves and water swirls these colorful pebbles around polishing them until they are glossy smooth. The wet water on the rocks adds to their shine and they are quite beautiful. One of the best places to see Tafoni Pockets is Pebble Beach State Park in California. They are not very common, but they are found in other places around the world.

My painting, "Tafoni Pockets" is not created from a photograph, but rather from my imagination after observing these pockets on Pebble Beach.

Tafoni Pockets is 16X16 oil on gallery wrap canvas. It is signed on the front and comes with it's original birth certificate attached to the back.
