Inspired by Japanese woodblock prints these sculptural wire drawings of three koi carp capture their essence in simple, swirling lines. In Japanese culture koi symbolise strength, courage, patience, and success through perseverance as they are known to swim against the current and overcome great obstacles. Because koi can grow very large and live a long life, they have also become a symbol of prosperity and good luck.
Treated with clear acrylic lacquer which protects the wire from prevention of corrosion and oxidisation so can be hung in the home or garden. Approx. measurements:
fish 1: 40cm long, 18cm wide, 1cm deep
fish 2: 38cm long, 20cm wide, 1cm deep.
fish 3: 38cm long, 23cm wide, 1cm deep.
Materials used:
Aluminium wire, steel wire, and clear acrylic lacquer.
