Sweet Dreams in Red ; is a red linocut image of a female figure asleep in a curled position. Simple lines, curves, and patterns were used.
This artwork was influenced by a theme focusing on Rhythms of Life.
The image depicts the innocence of a female figure, serenely sleeping as rhythmic curved like waves ebb and flow around her. Inspiration for Sweet dreams came from Klimt's paintings of patterns and the female figure.
I enjoy working with linocut prints - there is always an air of wonder, surprise and expectancy ... the outcome revealed only as the first print is made!
The original linocut was made in 2011 - this work was printed in 2015.
The work is printed onto paper with water based ink, although from same linocut each print of this work is a unique image and will differ slightly I also use different colours with this image. Sold framed, this work is part of a limited edition of 80.
Please note the work is 'cropped' only by the mount board (6.60 x8.60) as can be seen in photograph - by positioning the image in this way enhances the work but is easily adjusted to suit taste.
The work is carefully packaged in recyclable cardboard, secured with bubble wrap. Delivery will be a priority and as prompt possible.
Please note most communication will be in the evenings due to day time commitments, I am happy to answer any questions, thank you for your understanding and for taking time to visit my art space.
