Artist's description:

When I was a kid I loved making monster models, one of my favourite was the creature from the black lagoon. Everday I'd walk past thae model shop in town and look through the window, where the box containing those joy sprung sprews always stood taunting me, teasing me. Years later I was at a festival and it had been lashing it down with rain and the whole place was a mud bath. As I walked across to my tent this girl was dragging herself out of a massive mire of mud, dripping from head to fut with thick red brown Sommerset mud. As I watched her turned and waved and I realised it was actually my girlfriend at the time... I remember thinking how much she reminded me of that long covetted creature from the black lagoon... such a swamp tease...

Funny how images make their way into my paintings... sometimes its all by random, sometimes the image or subject matter throws itself at me.. yelling "me! me! me!", other times its all a matter of choice. The way I perceive things is that devoid of meaning, anything can be broken down to line, colour, shape and form, often it doesnt even matter what Im drawing, just simply that Im drawing. Funnily though, when Ive finished, I kind of get a connection with the subject matter, kind of an inverse attraction if you will.
