As I progress in my art career, I find myself trying to symbolize and capture emotions with everything that I paint. Wether is be from choosing a specific medium or objectifying an object with different lighting. My latest endeavor has been the addition of string texture onto my Oil paintings. About a year ago I had discovered my passion for this medium after accidentally buying the wrong paint. Back than, my art featured many animals and relied heavily on negative space. With this most recent step forward, I had decided to bring back my wild little friends and see what magic could arise once again. I began with an emotion, suspense. There are many ways to characterize this feeling, and it is also very easy to misinterpret it for anxiety. This was the main challenge when creating the piece. I wanted to make something stand alone but yet be representative. After hours of sketching, the ideal image had been forged. The piece is depicting a Rhinoceros suspended in mid air from rope ( or in this case hemp string ).My interpretation of this work is simple. When there is suspense it is often associated with something big that has the ability to be brutal, and the ability for it to happened at any moment.
