Artist's description:

A nautical themed artwork for your interior. Featured artwork by Artfinder.

Here's celebrating the power of the sea, and that moment when that perfect wave comes along. It is that magical feeling that surfers crave for and travel across the globe chasing the ideal wave.

I wanted to create another joyous, triumphant design, and capture that thrill of riding the wave; that feeling of conquering something ever so powerful. It is the inherent constant struggle between man and nature.

This is a stylised linocut made from my original sketches, and not a technically accurate drawing reproduced from photographs.

I have tried to create a sense of movement but also a stillness within this print. My surfer friends tell me that it is very calming despite it appearing so hectic and this is what I have aimed to replicate here. The spray of the ocean, the clear sky with a scattering of clouds, and the seagulls in the distance evoke the smells and sounds of the seaside.

Printed in indathrene blue, which is deep and rich and has a hint of purple in it using oil-based relief inks on smooth Zerkall printing paper, which is slightly off white and sets off the graphical nature of the print beautifully. Printed in monochrome, the intricate fine carving and mark- making is highlighted.

I will package it with a foam board backing in cellphone sleeve and acid free tissue paper. The print will be sent in a waterproof envelope.
