Artist's description:

Acrylic on Canvas | 100 x 120 x 2 cm | Framing Unnecessary | Ready to Hang | Signed on the Back.

This painting is partly inspired by the huge sculptures of Richard Serra made of Corten steel. Which you can see in renowned museums such as Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, MOMA New York, Tate Modern in London and a number of museum in the Netherlands.
Surface # 4 is one of a series of paintings about Corten steel. Corten steel is an alloy consisting of iron, copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium. The strength of Corten steel is comparable to other steel alloys, such as stainless steel.
Most of sculptures made of Corten steel are gigantic and can be up to 250 meters in length and 5 meters height. As a result of this, our attention is usually focuses on the enormous size and shapes of these sculptures.
On the contrary I'm especially fascinated by every square centimeter and every detail of each plate of Corten steel with its unique texture, structure and patterns (of interaction) of colours & shapes.

Materials used:

Acrylic, Pigments, Gold Leaf
