Occasionally I like to take a break from painting people and animals. As a young child I recall my father often painting boat scenes so unsurprisingly it's something I like to turn to.

For the scene here I wanted to portray late afternoon light as it breaks through across the harbour. Colour, value, saturation and temperature work together to enhance the composition and adds a little touch of drama.

Framing - This painting comes complete in a black tray frame with shadow gap. The canvas board painting 'floats' within the frame.
