Sunset near Pisa at the mouth of the River Arno. The dark blue water of the flowing river moves towards the calmer, lighter blue of the sea and then the sky, giving a sense of distance and of peace. The warm gash of evening sunlight in the sky is reflected back even warmer in the river, thus closing the circle. The horizon is partially marked by the presence against the light of a typically Tuscan ‘Rettone’, a fishing lodge built in wood where the fishermen spend the day or night at their work. Sunset is always a time of peace and a moment for reflection.
This painting appears on the poster announcing my solo exhibition in the Museo Lechi, Montechiaro, Brescia. It is also present in my Official Catalogue 2016. Apart from the clear emotional value of the painting, this also gives it added estimation as an investment.
