This painting is based on my first trek to a peak named Chandrashila in Uttarakhand, Indian Himalayas. The place is Deoriatal, meaning the "Lake of the Gods". This was the base camp. As I walked out of my tent, the major peak behind, Mt. Chowkhamba was still in shadows. I witnessed the magical transition from pale blue to golden outlines on the snow cover.
