The reference photograph for this painting was taken from the Malvern Hills, and I am grateful to a family member for taking the photo. I did enjoy the challenge of interpreting the light quality in the photo and translating it into a painting. Having visited that area previously and knowing how beautiful it is there, I might even be tempted to go and see the sunrise myself one day.
