Sunny captures a moment on a summers day. Butterflies and flowers reaching up to a sky filled with hazy summer light. Your eyes can’t quite focus upon the abundance of flora swaying in the breeze. This abstract painting was inspired by shimmering sun light on a meadow and hedge row. I wanted to create a work that didn’t identify any single item within the painting but still made a room feel full of sunshine. The colours were selected to reflect the light that you see on a summers day as the sun beats down. The brush strokes and abstract quality of the painting were applied to depict the way the sunlight can throw everything out of focus when the brightness of the light hit’s the retina. Juxtaposed to this are the delicate butterflies which hover around the flowers like ethereal shadows, complementing the unfocused abstract quality of the work. This painting is large at 100 x 100 x 3 cm. It has black boxed edges and is ready to hang.
