Original artwork description:

Whenever we visit the English Lake District, we always stay at the same small campsite at a village called Wallthwaite. From the campsite there is a short walk along a narrow lane that leads to some low lying fells from which you are rewarded with terrific views across Newlands towards Keswick. These are especially stunning during the evening when you are often treated to spectacular sunsets. I've been visiting this area for years, but have never painted the view, as I don't think a painting can ever do justice to a good sunset. However, during my last visit I thought that I'd have a go at capturing at least some of the magnificence of the view. The sky was clearly going to be an important part of this scene, as it's mood can often change the landscape dramatically. As is often the case in Cumbria, a shower had recently blown through the area and after it passed the sun began to break through the clouds producing great towers of light over Keswick.
