20" x 16" unframed plein air oil painting on canvas board.
For years artists were invited to paint plein air at Van Gogh Days at Rasmussen Farms in Hood River, Oregon. I arrived early to set up my easel at the edge of the fields with a good view of Mt. Hood. I was excited to paint the brilliance of the orange and yellow sunflowers and blue sky and create a dynamic composition. After completing an initial pencil sketch on paper, I transferred it to canvas and quickly painted the scene in oils. After being in business for over 50 years, the owners retired and sold the farm, so I was happy to paint there one last time.
