Water and boats are a recurring theme in my work and the Union Canal in Edinburgh is an endless source of inspiration. The canal is a place of contrasts: it can appear idyllic in parts, as it does here, with trees casting shade on a hot day and ducks dabbling in the still waters. By contrast, the barges provide a reminder of its origins as an industrial highway transporting goods in and out of the city. This image is painted in acrylic on 3D canvas. The sides of the canvas are white and the painting is signed on the front.
