Ever since this series of work formed in my mind I’ve wondered how I was going to explain it. The subject of child neglect or child abuse is one not many seek to find out more about. It’s often hidden away in families for generations of repeated behaviours, the cycle never ending and the child often bearing the brunt of its force. My aim is not to traumatise you with details but show you the complexity of childhood traumas and how they affect our children when the cycle isn’t broken. If you feel uncomfortable, GOOD that’s the only way we’ll begin the discussion. I am pulled so strongly towards this subject as it is me standing up for the little girl who felt like she had no one. I want you to try to understand it from your own perspective and see what comes to your mind., as I’ve learned, every childhood is different, some are blessed with picture perfect ones, some with horrors and some in between. Then I want you to begin to talk, to open up a conversation.

Oil Study on paper, each study is painted with high quality artist oils and is varnished, matted to 40x30cm and ready to be framed. Signed on the front and comes with a certificate of authenticy.

The painting is created in the multiple layers. Sophie works in a realistic manner of painting. In her paintings, she tries to achieve perspective, subtle color relationships and depth of space.
