This is a September 1996 photograph of individuals strolling on a tree-lined lane in Parque del Buen Retiro in central Madrid, Spain. The literal translation of the park's name is "Park of the Pleasant Retreat." Of course, some individuals in the photo are riding bicycles and one person appears to be jogging but the majority of the individuals appear to be out for a leisurely stroll. During my visits to the Retiro I always was impressed with the number of families interacting within the park. Such is reflected in this photo. I have not been to the Retiro in many years but I long have considered the Retiro an idyllic destination. I hope the peace and contentment I witnessed persists.
This photograph was created from a Kodak Tri-X negative scanned with a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 ED and processed via Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop before being printed as a giclee on archival 100% cotton rag fine art paper.
