This is qa handmade print of St Paul's Cathedral in London, one of the prominent landmarks in the city. Designed by Christopher Wren, the dome of St Paul's looms over the surrounding area, and can be seen from the London Eye and the Southbank. I tried to capture this spirit of London in this print.
It is part of a series of limited edition prints of 4, of which only one is now available.
Being an Architect, this has always been one of my favourite places to visit, and this particular print was inspired by a photograph that my daughter took while walking around London on a hot summer's day. We had just been to an afternoon performance of 'Antony and Cleopatra' at the Globe, and walked over to St Paul's over the Millennium Bridge. It was a lovely day in London, and this print brings back the memories of a relaxed, idyllic day spent in London.
“Si monumentum requiris circumspice
(If you seek his monument, look around.)
[Epitaph on Wren's tomb in St. Paul's Cathedral]”
The sky is moody and grey and slightly overcast, and the dome stands tall and proud rising through the clouds.
This print will be signed and numbered on the front by the artist. It is made using drypoint technique, where the design is etched on a thin metal plate using different tools, and printed on a 300 gsm smooth cartridge paper with etching inks, using a traditional etching press.
For international orders, any duties and taxes are not included here, if any. The print will be sent unframed, beautifully wrapped, using a secured hard-backed envelope with cellophane/bubble wrap. Framed options are available- please feel free to message me and discuss.
