Original artwork description:

Stob Dearg, Glencoe – original oil painting by Julie Arbuckle

Framed in a brilliant white laminate-wrapped wooden frame

Stob Dearg is the very imposing peak which is part of the mountain Buichaille Etive Mor. It is the first hill that greets you as you travel along the road north into Glen Coe. Very imposing, and much photographed, this Munro is a favourite with both walkers and climbers. Usually depicted from the roadside around the Kings House Hotel, this painting shows it from a vantage point about 1000ft above the road on the way up Beinn A’Chrulaiste.

Sometimes, in order to get the best views, you need to climb up the less famous hills. I can thoroughly recommend Beinn A’Chrulaiste from Altnafeidh as a magnificent vantage point at the gateway to Glencoe.
