Artist's description:

This is inspired by the TS Eliot poem: Only by the form, the pattern, can words or music reach the stillness, as a Chinese jar still moves perpetually in its stillness.
I wanted this vase to look very precious and special, as though it is a museum piece, isolated and on display. It is painted on birchply and I carved the background with Japanese Woodcarving tools, and gave it a thin glaze of transparent white oils. The neck of the vase is foiled with silver aluminium.
I've been painting household objects, jugs, vases and bottle and bowls, with the same intentions.

Materials used:

Oils on birchply with a carved background and aluminium foil detail.
