Artist's description:

Ever had that feeling there's something under the bed ? Me too.... which is what inspired this original carbon and charcoal pencil drawing of Stephen, worked on Fabriano Artistico paper. Only in this case, he's hiding under his own bed. Stephen is reclusive so we can presume he's avoiding whoever is approaching that door with their torch (and is in for a shock). I've always seen him in an abandoned building and his own confusion about his identity made an asylum a natural choice.

Stephen is the only one of my creatures to actually give me nightmares- until I finally got him out onto paper. He's called Stephen after the Alice Cooper song of the same name which is what I was listening to when he first came crawling out of the dubious recesses of my imagination. At least, that's where I hope he's from....

He has as you can see eight main arms- two pairs forward facing, two back plus a smaller set used for feeding. Being a hybrid - I think he was a person, once- he has lost his human eyes and sees with a cluster of spider eyes located where his mouth would have been, with a toothless mouth under his chin.

He is supplied with a cream mount and wooden frame with styrene glazing so it's safe to ship.

Materials used:

Fabriano Artistico paper, charcoal pencil, Wolffs carbon pencil
