A colorful mixed bouquet of flowers with stargazer lilies in a silver vase against a blue background.
I used to have these stargazer lilies on both sides of the entry into my vegetable garden. They would have been so pretty… if I had ever seen them in bloom. Every time a lily bloomed a deer would show up to eat it. The deer seemed to love these more than anything else in the yard. The creme brûlée of deer cuisine. The stems were so tall that the blooms were right up there at deer mouth level, as if served on a silver platter by yours truly.
But it was very cool to have deer wandering through the yard all the time and I didn't mind sharing my garden with them. I remember one day I was working at the kitchen sink when I looked up out the window and was startled by seeing a tall doe right on the other side of the glass staring back at me.
