Original artwork description:

Cut straight from my own mildly disturbed mind, 'Spit' is a hand made photo montage.

Using colour as an important thread throughout this montage, cooking meat is crucified against an engorged pink moon, a bucolic meadow providing a soothing contrast to this stark silhouette.

I create these photo montage pieces in a similar way to one who participates in automatic drawing, leafing through pages of old books and tearing out the images that leap out at me. There is little motive to start with, the basic image seemingly creates itself, with a little refinement from me when a general composition is found.

Hand cut encyclopaedia, vintage book on space and travel guide on paper.

Materials used:

paper, old books, vintage travel guides and encyclopaedias
