This painting embodies the wild seas around the coast of England, especially Cornish seas, when the weather is tempestuous and bracing. Over the years I have spent many holidays in Cornwall with my family and try to convey some of the majesty and drama of the waves; the endless change of seafoam as they crash onto the beach. Spindrift was the obvious choice of name for a painting of seafoam. This painting includes pearlescent and luminous elements that can be seen in different lights and in the absence of light (after exposure to strong light), however these do not detract from the drama of the painting in normal lighting conditions. The glow in the dark element is added to reproduce the bioluminescence that can be seen sometimes in the sea on a dark night.
