Spectra Friction
11 X 14 inches
acrylic on canvas

Anyone who has ever worn or really touched lace will understand why I named this piece the way I did. Lace is considered such a soft and "feminine" thing but it's not soft, it's harsh and leaves an impression when pressed. The tension in this piece is created by contrasting not only the black and white to the colorful but also the matte lace to the glossy appendage.

Detail pictures show the lace gloved hand up close and an angled shot to show you the glossy texture.

I use the best acrylic paints in my pieces and coat them in a UV-protective, non-yellowing fixative/lacquer to ensure years of vibrancy to come.
