Artist's description:

This painting was originally intended to be an abstract landscape, but as soon as I saw that sky emerge, any thoughts of a non- representational design disappeared. I deepened the tangle of colours at the front, and added flowers to make it into a hedgerow. I brightened the skyline and the field of corn to suggest a sun hidden behind mist. And at the front, as focal point, a crow has found something interesting in the wooden post upon which he stands!

When priming this canvas, I swept the gesso into swirls and ridges, so the surface may be described as 'distressed'. It is signed in the bottom eight hand corner.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint.
