Artist's description:

This is one of two "Sky Hooks" designed by sculptor Brian Fell. They stand at the entrance to Manchester's Trafford Park - the world's first industrial park - and reflect the connection between the park and the construction of the nearby Manchester Ship Canal.

I first saw it on a beautiful January afternoon when the low sun created this amazing distorted shadow on the wall behind it. One problem: No camera! But I made a note of the time and prayed to the Weather Gods and crossed my fingers for another clear sky the next day. And I got it!

Subsequently, this photo won a competition in The Guardian Newspaper - no prize, sadly, but it was printed in their magazine and gave my mother some boasting rights!
