This is a Monoprint, One of a Kind Print, Hand drawn by the Artist
This work is entitled "Honey! I've Shrunk Honey G!...Cheero! Cheero! Not 50 Cent but 1 Cent!"
This has been inspired by a recent contestant "Honey G" on the X Factor (UK Version) with Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne on the judging panel. Sharon's contestant was "Honey G" who was a Rap Artist, who has given Rap a Bad Name, according to Professor Green. Ironically, "X Factor" has now been "X" Off the TV screens replaced by "The Voice"
I've taken "Honey G" out of context, by shrinking her, (as she failed to reach the final, and failed to reach the TOP 100 in the Singles Chart with her new single), and placed her in the bowl as in the film "Honey I've Shrunk the Kids". I've surrounded her with "Cheerio" cereal rings (Cheerio is a Cereal Band in the UK, with Honey flavour), using a "One Cent" USA Coin as template, nod to "50 Cent" Rap Artist.
This is a Still Life, containing a Breakfast Bowl, Spoon & Cereal Rings, and I have arranged the composition in an Aerial View (or known as Plan View as seen from above), and have placed the handle of the Spoon off the page, to suggest the viewer's hand (ie. your hand) is out of frame, and part of the artwork, and you're looking down at the bowl.
Monoprints are hand-drawn on a flat surface such as Table Top (Horizontal plane), and in the work, I've recreated this view as seen from above, Aerial (or Plan View). Although by their nature they intended to displayed on a wall (Vertical plane). In the work, I'm interested in the interaction between the change of planes from the Horizontal to the Vertical.
