This is entitled 'Buoyancy of Life #10' and is one off artwork part of a collection of original, one off Monoprints Sketches on A4 Paper.
This is piece of Conceptual Art. It is to form a series of unique but repetitive works, each individually numbered (by crossed out, this is #10, other numbers available, hand made to order). This has been inspired by the recent, and continuing events of the Syrian Refugee's fleeing Syria and taking a journey from Turkey to the Greece Islands by Boat, to seek claim Asylum and have a better 'Life' in Europe. On their Boat journey they pay a high price to secure a seat on the Boat (by human traffickers, whom are making a large amount of money at their expense, allegedly) and are given a bright coloured Orange Life Jacket. The Life Jackets are made of in-standard materials, that don't contain enough 'Buoyancy' Float Foam, and maybe useless, allegedly. In this work the Artist is drawing attention the plight of the Refugee's. This work has been inspired by the recent work of Ai WeiWei, installation in Berlin in which he wrapped used Life Jacket around the columns of a Building.
The first image is the front printed in Orange (hand mixed by Artist from Yellow & Red, colours may vary) Acrylic Monoprint
The last image is an image of Life Jackets discarded by the Refugees on the Greece Island Beach, doesn't accompany the work.
