Artist's description:

This piece was painted while I was on an artist retreat with the Painted Ladies, Inc. in Skagit Valley, Mt. Vernon, Washington State, USA. The tulips bloomed much earlier than usual in 2015, but we did manage to catch the tail end of the Tulip Festival. I had never seen tulip fields before. The very colorful rows of tulip flowers were so beautiful, I almost cried.

As part of the retreat, there was a workshop offered in Alcohol Ink. I had never heard of this medium, and I almost did not sign up for the class. I am so glad I did! This medium of saturated color is very exciting in which to work. I will be producing more work of this type.

This particular piece is a fun, colorful contemporary version of rows of tulips with distant mountains and a peaceful sky.
