Artist's description:

Großes Kino / Heile Welt:
How much of the past is romanticized; how much was ever true? What present day images will evoke similar responses in the future? Cultural nostalgia is the central theme being examined in this series.

Shown in this painting is a scene from a "heimatfilm," an Austrian, German and Swiss film genre from the late 1940s to the early 1970s depicting the culture's great love for the outdoors, ethnic dress and light-humored romance. That the scene is being shown from a laptop, reflecting the present day setting, creates distance and reminds us that it is a nostalgic memory.
