Artwork description:

Developed in Japan during the 1980s, Shinrin-yoku is the practice of ‘forest bathing’ and involves spending time in the forest stretching, meditating, inhaling tree aromas and generally appreciating the forest!

This is an original multi-block linocut print, using two blocks and variable inking to achieve the effect of dappled sunlight shining through a canopy of autumn leaves. Each print will differ due to this variable inking - the images shown should give an indication of the variations between prints. There are three versions of this limited variable edition print and 30 prints of each version, this is version 2 with autumnal colours.

All my prints are printed on good quality printmaking papers (my current favourites are Zerkall and Fabriano) with either Caligo relief or Lawrence oil based printing inks. These Shinrin-Yoku prints are printed on Zerkall extra smooth printing paper, 145gsm, using Lawrence oil based inks. The image size 31cm x 41cm, paper size is approx 45cm x 55cm which gives a generous margin to allow for framing.

My linocuts are handmade from start to finish - hand carved, inked and handprinted, and as such they will have small variations between prints - making each print into a unique artwork. All of my prints are flat packed if delivered within the UK, and will be sent packaged in tissue and a tube if delivered outside of the UK.

If you have any questions, please just get in touch and thanks for taking a look!

Materials used:

Zerkall extra smooth printing paper, 145gsm. Caligo safe wash ink.
