Original artwork description:

I love the beach! And I keep picking up shells....... This piece is inspired by the spiral forms, the slightly rough textures and the mix of maritime colours found in shells. The rough stoneware clay, the thick white slip, the blue and green oxides together with the dark copper oxide on the edges work to evoke the sensation of the sea. Sadly, though, you can't hear the sea when you listen to the sculpture (I'm working on that..).

This is the smallest of the Coastal Blues series and could be displayed inside our outside. I sometimes place it near my pond, where it looks good.

Materials used:

Stoneware ceramic with oxides and glazes
