Artwork description:

A small sculpture inspired by football kits from my childhood years. As a small boy I had a copy of "The Observers Book of Soccer" which contained illustrations of all the shirt colours for each British football club. The book fascinated me, especially the illustrations, and I still find myself drawn to changes in shirt designs through the decades. The book coupled with another feature from my childhood, "Subbuteo", which also fuelled my fascination for kits, inspired the design for the sculpture.
The piece is made using concrete for the "Subbuteo" inspired base, with a wire framed figure covered in Modroc and painted in acrylic.
Further figures are available through commission, any team, past or present, can be ordered. Also, other sports, eg rugby.

Materials used:

Concrete, modroc, wire, acrylic, varnish

Sheff Utd 1971, Tony Currie (2018)
