A very unique place, a force of nature, ever changing, moody, elegant, constant, awe inspiring. I've visited this place numerous times now, each time a different experience. This is called sgwyd yr eira, Welsh for falls of snow, so called due to being able to walk behind the waterfall due to a cavern carved out over many years of the constant flow eroding as it collides with the rocks, the droplets of water giving the effect of snowfall. An extremely surreal and magical experience, the thunderous constant of the water cascading in front of you whilst you stand beneath it.
My art is inspired by the wonderment of nature, there's beauty everywhere if you look for it, the walk to this place is treacherous in places, but the sights, sounds and smells are always worth the toil.
I love this piece, slightly abstract and impressionistic the cold and dampness of the rocks represented with blues and greys, the grassy and mossy outcrops shining through with ochres and greens whilst the sun casting its orangey glow over the flora and fauna gives an air of warmth, the water reflecting these colours and blurred to give an appearance of movement. A moment captured in time but beautiful forever.
