Inspired by the hecticness of florals, yet the stillness that the natural world instills in human beings as we take a moment to stop and breathe. I wanted to create the movement that we see in hair, through a different texture and composition by binging in the floral element.
The portrait painted itself in a way, I had no idea how it would turn out as I painted, until I stepped backwards and there the calm emerged from the broad brushstrokes.
The artwork is A2, 420 mm x 594 mm, painted with acrylic on 300 gsm cold-pressed paper.
