Artwork description:

I have spent many vacations on the coast enjoying the beaches and trails. There is obvious beauty everywhere: The sun rising and setting over the ocean, the water itself, the soft rise of the sandy, rose-lined paths leading to the beach.

But, as in life, the small things can be overlooked and unappreciated. In this series, I attempt to capture the obscure so the viewer might look at the world a little more closely to find the beauty hidden in plain view around us.

Here, four birds perch on wires at sunrise in Provincetown, Massachusetts. They were singing cheerfully as they faced the incoming tide. The bird in the foreground is in focus while the three higher birds are in soft focus.
