Artist's description:

Walking up the narrow track from the road, you enter the silent wood. A line of beeches stand sentinel, their twisted forms silhouetted against the low midwinter sun and casting purple shadows across the newly fallen snow.

Crannoch Woods is a small wood a few miles from my home, a litle way outside the seaside village of Cullen. A path leads gently upwards through Birch and Beech to a clearing, where a small lochan nestles in a circle of trees. It's always a magical place, but even more so when it's transformed by the snow.
