At the most northerly point of Ireland - Malin Head, my family and two friends visiting from London drove up there, partly because it was a beautiful day in May, but there was the added excitement of knowing that a film crew had set up there to film something for a new Star Wars film.
The painting captures a moment when the landscape takes you and your thoughts to a world of quiet contemplation. From the viewers perspective, the figure seems slightly incongruous in her surroundings due to the non standard walking attire, which, along with the almost dreamlike view of the landscape across the sea, gives a sense of otherworldliness. The title is a subtle reference to the aforementioned film, as I later learned that the Millennium Falcon had been constructed on that site ready for filming the following week.
This painting is finished with a satin varnish.
