This part of the Collection 'Selfie Objects of Desire' about the exploring by Conceptual Art the identity of the Artist through medium of ready-made objects. The signature of the Artist is part of his identity, and belongs to him, and each signature is unique.
This is a piece of Conceptual Art. This is a ready-made object. This object was obtained from the London Olympic Games 2012, and contained the contents of a well-known make of Cola. The Artist has held the bottle in fingers, and drank from the bottle. By holding the bottle in his fingers, the Artist has left his finger prints on the bottle, similarly, the Artist has drunk from the bottle, and left his saliva on the bottle. Both the fingerprints and the saliva are DNA evidence of the Artist, his unique signature. The artist has added another signature to the bottom of the bottle by signing it in Primary Pop Art colours.
Looking at the bottle, the shape is similar to the human body, with head, neck, torso and legs similar to that of Russian Dolls. Thereby, the Artist is suggesting that the bottle is the body of the Artist.
To add a further depth to the piece, that Artist has added a Secret message on Paper inside the bottle, eg. in the saying ‘A Message in a Bottle’ that only he knows, and is hidden in the bottle, can’t be seen by the viewer. Only the purchaser of the bottle, will know the Secret of the Artist! We all have secrets? What’s yours?
The Artist is planning to make a further series of these works, from glass beer bottles, with unique messages in them. Due to customs restrictions, these works will not be able to ship overseas, however, the Artist would be able to send the message, and you the audience (about audience participation), would be able to place the message in a used bottle (that you have purchased) or send the Artist a secret message if you like to share!
** At the present time, this work is not for sale, and is proposed to be displayed at a fore-coming exhibition. **
